What are they and how do they work?

A car battery is a rechargeable battery which is used to start a vehicle.
Its’ main purpose is to supply electricity to the electric starter motor, which in turn starts the internal combustion engine which is essentially what propels the vehicle.

Once the engine is on, the electrical systems of the car are still provided by the battery, with the alternator charging the battery as demands increase or decrease.

The car battery is arguably one of the most essential parts of your vehicle, quiet and powerful. All vehicles, especially the newest models, now have huge demands on starter batteries.

Duracell batteries have been the leading solution for many decades in the field. They are characterized by ultimate durability and long life and are built to offer maximum performance and reliable starting regardless of the conditions.

Series:
Duracell Starter:

Built to the latest standards, it is the ideal choice for those looking for a high quality product at an excellent price.

Reliable power for every engine start

No maintenance required

Higher safety standards

Protection against leaks in case of exposure to throbs

Built-in flame arrester for protection against external ignition.

 Duracell Advanced:

It meets the highest requirements of leading manufacturers, making it an excellent battery choice for the modern car. Also ideal for modern SUVs.

Optimized cold start values and robust cycling capability

Full calcium technology, maintenance free

Improved protection against external ignition and leakage, highest ESD-safety

Throb resistance

Duracell Extreme AGM: T

The AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) type car battery is mainly used in fuel-efficient mid-size cars and luxury vehicles, where complex start/stop system functions along with brake energy recovery are standard.

Non-woven glass mat battery with adjustable valve (VRLA) – 5 models with 60 - 105Ah

Three times the cycle resistance of standard batteries

Waterproof due to electrolyte bonding to glass non-woven (absorbent glass mat)

Very low internal resistance, maximum starting power

Zero maintenance due to recombination technology

Ability of installation in a sideways position (maximum angle 90°)

Duracell Extreme EFB:
The EFB (Enhanced Flooded Battery) is mainly used in medium and small cars as well as light commercial LCVs with high energy requirements and simpler start-stop systems.
Alternatively, they are increasingly used as backup batteries in electric cars.

Increased cyclic resistance

Robust design and optimal shock absorber

Calcium technology for minimal water consumption, no need for maintenance

Designed for the maximum energy demands resulting from the increasing number of comfort functions in long-haul trucks

Duracell Professional HD:

Duracell SHD batteries are designed with absolute robustness to reliably start any heavy-duty vehicle engine such as truck, bus, farm vehicle and construction machinery in all conditions. SHD (SuperHeavyDuty) versions offer the highest safety features, such as central ventilation and safety plugs. In addition, the batteries in 145Ah, 180Ah and 225Ah have a 4-chamber cap with central ventilation, to prevent leakage of electrolyte, which incorporates an integrated flame arrestor for added safety.

How long does a car battery last?
Several factors determine how long a car battery will last. This includes the number of short trips the driver makes, as well as environmental factors. Batteries tend to drain faster in particularly hot and cold climates. Even the condition of a car, and specifically its starter, will ultimately determine battery life.
A typical battery will normally last about three to five years before needing replacement. All Duracell batteries come with a 2-year warranty.

Indications for change

Your battery is probably old

Car batteries as mentioned above last three to five years. If you haven't replaced your battery recently, it probably needs to be replaced. You can tell if your battery is old by checking the voltage level. A healthy battery should have a voltage of 12.54 volts and above.

Your car is having trouble starting

When you start your car and it doesn't start like it used to, or you have to jump start it with cables, it's most likely your battery’s fault. This is one of the first signs that a battery has a problem and so it's time for a replacement.

Slow engine turnover

If your engine is taking a long time to turn over, it may be because your battery is not providing enough power to it.

The bad smell of your battery

If it gives off an unpleasant smell, it's time to replace it. This smell is usually caused by sulfuric acid, which emerges when the battery starts to "die". Acid can damage your car and even create a fire hazard, so don't wait until this symptom occurs before getting a new battery.

Your battery case is swollen If you see that your battery case is swollen, it means that the cells inside are swollen and about to burst. This condition can also lead to a fire hazard, so it is important to get a new battery if you experience this symptom.
